A day of design doesn’t start at the desk.

Sometimes it starts with fresh air, a long walk, a little perspective — and my favourite assistant making sure I actually leave the house. 🐾

She insists on a morning walk, greets everyone she meets, stops for every interesting smell and has absolutely no respect for my schedule.

Honestly, she might be onto something.

Fresh air. Movement. A clear head. Then it’s back to designing.

A look into the development of one of our resident

A look into the development of one of our residential projects, as the interior and exterior elements come together.

From the kitchen, with its curved hood, brass detailing and integrated appliances, through to the living areas and fireplace joinery, each element was developed to create a cohesive material language throughout the home.

The exterior continues the same approach, with travertine, brass sanitaryware, timber-look ceilings and carefully considered finishes extending the design language beyond the interior.

We were involved in the selection and coordination of the finishes and overall look and feel across these areas, ensuring that the interior and exterior read as one considered scheme.

This is where the design starts becoming tangible.

Naturals and engineered stone being installed across the kitchen, built-in cabinetry and outdoor entertaining areas, while the joinery and architectural details were taking shape.

The terrace includes a built-in bar sink and serving area overlooking the pool, with a large bi-fold window opening connecting the interior and exterior — creating an easy connection between the two spaces.

Inside, the curved joinery, fireplace and TV unit, kitchen, scullery and laundry were all coming together at different stages of installation.

There were still boxes everywhere and plenty of work left to do, but this is the part of a project I enjoy seeing most: the design moving from drawings and specifications into something physical.

A finished space may look effortless, but there is a lot of coordination behind what you eventually see.

New project underway.

And then there are things you find on site. We found this little nest on the floor, and I really wish I was wearing pants so I could’ve climbed the tree and put it back up there. 🐦😍

Behind the finish. The undercoat is complete and the house is now being prepared for pre-paint inspection.

Throughout the painting and spray-painting process, the custom joinery and wood panels are carefully covered and protected to prevent staining, overspray and damage while the surrounding finishes are being completed.

It’s one of those less glamorous stages of a project, but proper preparation and protection are essential to achieving a clean final finish.

Another step closer to the finished space.

A little site update. There’s something satisfying about seeing a project move from drawings and renders into a space you can actually walk through.

The staircase is complete, the powder room is taking shape with the shower screen now installed, and the wine cellar is partially complete — with the bronze glass beginning to bring the design together.

There’s still work happening throughout the development, but the spaces are starting to read the way they were intended to.

This is the part of the process where the details start to matter even more — proportions, material transitions, lighting, joinery and how everything connects as you move through the home.

“A project in progress, but the vision is becoming tangible.”

A wine cellar designed as part of the architecture

A wine cellar designed as part of the architecture… not simply added to it. ✨ One of my favourite elements of this space is the corner wine cellar, particularly the use of bronze glass. It gives the collection a sense of depth and warmth while still allowing the wine display to become part of the visual language of the home.

The corner positioning was intentional too. Rather than closing the cellar away completely, the glass enclosure allows it to be experienced from the staircase and circulation areas, turning what could have been a purely functional room into a feature within the architecture.

And now, seeing the design move from 3D renders to site is always one of my favourite parts of a project.

The glass is in, the joinery is taking shape, and the rest of the house is still coming together around it. It’s not finished yet — but you can finally start to see the original design intent becoming physical.

Good design is in the details: the material, the proportions, the lighting, the transparency, and how each element relates to the spaces around it.

A well-designed door is more than a finish or a feature. It is part of the architectural detailing of a space.

From the door height and proportions to the jamb construction, hinges, hardware, finishes and floor transitions, every component contributes to how the final space looks, functions and feels.

These details should be considered during the design and documentation stages, not once installation has already begun.

At Fervour Designs, we consider the relationship between the design intent and the technical execution — because refined interiors are created through thoughtful detailing, coordination and precision.

The details matter.
